Influential jazz bassist and composer (1922–1979) whose complex, innovative works meld elements of jazz, classical, and gospel. Rare matte-finish 5.25 x 7.5 photo of Mingus playing his bass on stage, signed in blue ballpoint. Matted and framed to an overall size of 9.25 x 11.75. Some scattered light creases, a few surface impressions from writing on reverse, and some light contrast to a couple letters of signature against dark background, otherwise fine condition. Mingus is seldom seen in signed photos.
